Three App Store screenshots of Water Eject x Speaker Cleaner, ending with its 165 Hz cleaning screen
Screenshots from the app's App Store listing.

Our top pick, and yes, we make it. The app opens on one cleaning screen: a 165 Hz tone you can nudge up or down, a vibration switch and a big Sound Blast button.

How it cleans. You pick a mode, from a gentle Ripple to a stronger Tsunami, and place the phone face down on a flat surface. The tone pushes water out of the grille, and vibration can help with stubborn droplets.

After cleaning. Left and Right Sound Check buttons play sound through each speaker in turn, so you can hear whether both work again.

Price and privacy. The download is free, and Pro is optional: $9.99 a week, $29.99 a year or $49.99 once. Its privacy label says the developer collects no data. No other top app here has that label.

What users say. “Works exactly as it should,” one reviewer wrote. Another noticed their speaker “has gotten a little bit louder.”

Pros

Appchi’s Clear Wave and Battery Stats Saver’s app both say they collect no data. Watch for subscriptions, though: reviews of these apps mention “14.99 a week after free trial” (Firehawk) and “$22 per week” (Battery Stats Saver).

Frequently asked questions

What is the best free water eject app?

No top app is fully free. The closest free options are a browser tool, which plays the same tone with no install, and a shortcut you build in Apple’s free Shortcuts app.

Are water eject apps legit?

Yes, for water in the speaker grille. They play a low tone that pushes droplets out. Most rely on subscriptions, so check the price before starting a trial.

Do water eject apps work on AirPods?

Some do. Speaker Wizard’s description covers headphones. Keep the earbuds out of your ears, play the tone at about half volume, and dry them for two hours first.

Is there a water eject app that doesn’t track you?

On iPhone, Water Eject x Speaker Cleaner is the only top app whose privacy label says “Data Not Collected”. On Android, Clear Wave and Battery Stats Saver’s app say they collect no data.

Can a water eject app fix the charging port?

No. Sound comes out of the speaker, and the charging port has no speaker in it. Unplug the phone and let the port air-dry instead.
